Forum: etree Subject: show keeps disappearing (help please)

so I uploaded a show in the folder jmraz2003-05-05.shnf
and I go to contribute it, and it says "queued for mp5 check and move to upload server", so a week later it's still like that, then it disappears altogether from the contributions page, so I recontribute it, and within hours, it's on the archive, under jason mraz's 2003 shows, but I go there again today and it has disappeared, and I notice the file is still sitting in my upload folder on etree05
Now there was an afternoon performance by mraz that I taped that I uploaded with no problem, but I've uploaded two same-day performances by the same band without issues before.
Why is it doing this, and if I recontribute it for the 3rd time, what's the chance it will actually stay contributed?

Thanks

Looks like it's fine now, so I'll comment on just this one line:

I go to contribute it, and it says "queued for md5 check and move to upload server", so a week later it's still like that

The only time this should last longer than 15 minutes is if you rename the show folder AFTER contributing the show. It happens once or twice a week.

So, lets say you import the show as jmraz2003-05-05.shnf Then, immediately afterwards you decide you want to add the mics to the folder-name so you go in and rename it to jmraz2003-05-05.at853.shnf.

What happens is five minutes later the Contribution engine gets to your show in the queue of work that it's doing and looks for a folder in your upload directory named:jmraz2003-05-05.shnf Since it can't find one, it skips that task and continues with anything else that it needs to work on. It just keeps waiting and waiting and waiting until:

a. Another show with the folder name of jmraz2003-05-05.shnf ends up in your upload folder.
b. An admin sees the frozen contribution and deletes it since it isn't linked to an actual show folder.
c. The uploader realizes why the show is frozen and renames the folder back to the name it was submitted as.

If the above situation doesn't apply to your show and it's still frozen after an hour, then something else is wrong and the admins need to be contacted via an Error Report - linked to the left side of any details page.

Thanks for the great explanation - this ought to go into the FAQ, though ideally I'd like to figure out a way to allow users to update the relevant pieces of information. Thanks again.

Did you hit refresh while ftp'd into your upload folder? Sometimes it's not there but it shows that it is. Not that I answered your question but that's all I have for right now.

yes, I did hit reply, and it is still there, but that doesn't explain why it was up on the site for like a day or two then it mysteriously disappeared.

Right...I couldn't answer that question, but i figured I'd try to help where I could. Best bet is to wait till the admins (that can do things) read the post.
